Artists
The Janoska Ensemble, with its distinctive approach to diverse musical styles, transcends genre boundaries to create a unique “polyglot” musical language. Their debut CD The Janoska Style, released by Deutsche Grammophon in 2016, achieved gold status within just a few months. When arranging classical repertoire, the ensemble embraces spontaneous creativity, producing music that is both innovative and vibrant – music that “lives and breathes.” The arrangements are crafted by three brothers from Bratislava – Ondrej, Roman, and František Janoška – along with their brother-in-law from Konstanz, Julius Darvaš. Their concerts are known for their strong audience connection, emotional engagement, humor, exceptional virtuosity, and even theatrical flair, often earning standing ovations. Thanks to The Janoska Style album, the ensemble has received invitations from major figures in the music world, including Anna Netrebko, Al Jarreau, Bobby McFerrin, Juan Diego Flórez, Julian Rachlin, and Randy Newman, among others. Members of the ensemble also regularly conduct masterclasses. In addition to The Janoska Style, the ensemble has released the albums Revolution (2019), The Big B (2022), and, most recently, The Four Seasons in Janoska Style (2024).
