The monograph marking the 25th anniversary of the KotorArt International Festival offers the first comprehensive overview of the Festival’s origins, development, and artistic maturation, confirming its status as one of the most significant festivals in the region. Rooted in the unique cultural heritage setting of Kotor and the Bay of Kotor, KotorArt has, over the past quarter of a century, developed into an internationally recognized platform for encounters between outstanding artists, diverse artistic disciplines, and audiences.
While special emphasis is placed on the music program as the backbone of the Festival, the monograph also examines its other segments, presenting their role in shaping the overall identity of KotorArt. Through an analysis of programming concepts, authentic performance venues, and key artistic achievements, the publication provides a structured overview of the Festival’s development and cultural significance. Particular value is added by the numerous local, regional, and international artists who have marked the Festival’s history, as well as by rich documentary material – music reviews, interviews, press coverage, and other media records, complemented by representative photographs that bear witness to the atmosphere, spaces, and people who have shaped the spirit of KotorArt over the past twenty-five years.
This monograph is not only a chronicle of the Festival, but also a testimony to its contribution to contemporary cultural life in Montenegro and to the international affirmation of Kotor as a town of art and a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
