The Musical Cinema project is conceived as a performance in which a chamber ensemble of seven to ten musicians plays live music and sound effects to accompany animated films projected on a screen on stage. This audio-visual format offers children the opportunity to experience classical music as an integral part of the animated world, making it more engaging and accessible. The aim of this educational and artistic project is to introduce young audiences to classical music in an innovative and unconventional way, with a strong focus on musical education through the synergy of music and animation. From September 2022 to January 2025, the project attracted over 12,000 viewers across more than fifty performances throughout Serbia. The fifth edition of the performance features contemporary animated films by international creators, accompanied by a blend of transcriptions and original compositions by Igor Andrić. The program includes works by Beethoven, Delibes, Prokofiev, Khachaturian, Elgar, and Verdi, as well as film music composed specifically for the project by Torin Borrowdale. The chamber ensemble consists of a string quartet, horn, accordion, and a percussion set.
