Sounds of Contemporary European Jazz: Alpha Trianguli to Perform Three Concerts in Montenegro

The KotorArt International Festival continues this year’s Pjaca od džeza series with a concert by the Austrian quartet Alpha Trianguli, which will take place on Sunday, 9 August, at 10 p.m. at Museum Square in Kotor’s Old Town. A day earlier, on Saturday, 8 August, the extraordinary ensemble will perform at Luštica Bay, at the Marina Village Amphitheatre, starting at 9 p.m. The programme is presented in cooperation with the Festival’s long-standing partners: the Austrian Embassy, Luštica Bay and the Tivat Music Festival.

Alpha Trianguli brings together outstanding Austrian jazz musicians – trombonist Alois Eberl, vibraphonist Florian Klinger, double bassist Philipp Kienberger and drummer Jakob Kammerer. The quartet performs original music inspired by the vastness of the universe, blending contemporary jazz, improvisation and a rich sonic palette into a unique concert experience.

Their programme explores the relationship between sound, space and silence, creating musical landscapes that range from powerful rhythmic passages to ethereal and meditative sections. Audiences can expect compositions inspired by space and natural phenomena, through which the band develops its distinctive and contemporary artistic expression.

At the end of 2023, the quartet released its debut album, Entering Zero Gravity, on the renowned Swiss label Unit Records. They have since presented the same programme to audiences around the world, including in the United States, France, Italy, Hungary, Thailand and other countries, establishing themselves as one of the most exciting new ensembles on the European jazz scene.

The ensemble’s visit to Montenegro is being realised through the cooperation of three festivals. Following their concerts at Luštica Bay and in Kotor, Alpha Trianguli will also perform on 10 August at Macan Poljana in Žabljak, as part of the Wild Beauty Art Festival. Admission to all three concerts is free.
